Secrets of the Moon – Sun

After the tragic loss of LSK (ex-Antaeus, ex-Vorkreist, ex-SotM), the German black metal horde of Secrets Of The Moon had to reinvent itself. In doing so, they choose the antipode of the moon as their surprising central theme and made even more surprising musical choices. The music of SotM always has been richer in structure than standard black metal and has previously included doom influences since their epic ‘Carved In Stigmata Wounds’, but their most recent album is without doubt their boldest move. Striking new wave and doom metal influenes reminiscent of Fields Of The Nephilim, contemporary Paradise Lost or maybe Germ, Austere, Killing Joke come to the mind and one has to wait for “Mark Of Cain” to hear a sound more typical for SotM. In doing so, they have created a piece of art that grows with every spin.
