NNC: Kinky Kickoff: Three Days, Five Bands

No Name Collective and Muziekcentrum Kinky Star proudly present:

Kinky Kickoff! We had so many good gig requests that we figured, let’s make our return to Kinky Star a little three-day festival!

WEDNESDAY 18/09: RITUAL SLUDGE NIGHT!
Get pummeled six feet into the cold dark earth with the crushing waves of heaviness these bands bring to the table.

*** BEES MADE HONEY IN THE VEIN TREE (DE) ***
Devastating post-doom from Stuttgart. Founded in 2014, the contrast between bright and eerie, beautiful and heavy, quickly became an inseparable part of their sound. Their compositions combine crushing Doom riffs with spherical Post- and Psychedelic Rock. This wall of sound unfolds to its full extent, especially live! The effect-laden vocals – which include screams and clean passages – sometimes function as an additional instrument and give the songs a breadth and aesthetic that is rarely found in this form.

*** BLACK WILLOWS (CH) ***
Black Willows causes an altered sensory experience of senses, emotions, memories, time, and awareness for 6 to 14 hours, depending on dosage and tolerance. Generally beginning instantly after ingestion, the user may experience anything from subtle changes in perception to overwhelming cognitive shifts. Changes in auditory and visual perception are typical. Visual effects include the illusion of movement of static surfaces («walls breathing»), after image-like trails of moving objects («tracers»), the appearance of moving colored geometric patterns (especially
with closed eyes), an intensification of colors and brightness («sparkling»), new textures on objects, blurred vision, and shape suggestibility.

THURSDAY 19/09: SHOEGAZE NIGHT!
Float through the sky on the eerie breeze these bands blows in.

*** STAY IN NOTHING (UK) ***
Stay In Nothing is a two-piece that delivers nostalgic and melancholic sounds. Being a two-piece, the band blends two worlds into one. Axel coming from a heavy background and being a hard-hitting drummer at heart, adds punk into the dynamic while Karin adds sadness and odd melodies that end up shaping the band’s sound. Fans of Alcest, eat your heart out!

*** WINTER BODY (BE) ***
Winter Body, from hometown Ghent, are a group of four friends, bringing you a mix between post-rock, shoegaze and post-hardcore. A collection of sad songs so to speak, sometimes calm, sometimes explosive. https://open.spotify.com/artist/4QOX5MkhHPqJxCOtGhZJtj

FRIDAY 20/09: COLTAINE NIGHT!
Drown in an ocean of sounds and intuitions with our weekend’s headliner.

*** COLTAINE (DE) ***
Coltaine is the keyword to an adventure in sound. Formed in 2022 in the mystic atmosphere of the Black Forest, Germany, Coltaine transport their intuitive creations into unusually exciting and diverse microcosms of dark, atmospheric psychedelia whose feeling is that of foggy, post metal-tinged acid rock with the sombre hues of blackgaze. Their newest offering ”Forgotten Ways” gives the listener immediate access to an unreal world where the endlessness of life and death come alive within songs that blend complete obscurity with the hopeful lights of pure spiritual energy. With a personal sound that defies all categorizations, Coltaine are ready to embark on a quest across the deep, misty realms of their own musical craft.
